Named after Sam Houston, a general of
Texas army that won independence from Mexico, and the President of the now defunct Republic
of Texas. Houston is largest city in
Texas and fourth largest in the United State. The city has experienced phenomenal growth since
a small riverboat landing was established on Buffalo Bayou of the Gulf Coast area by the Allen brothers in August
1836. Today
Houston is best known by the Nasa
space centre (SpaceCity) fondly tease internationally "Houston we have a problem", and also as an industrial and financial
hub for much of the state and the country too. Houston lies on I-10, a segment of the Ports to Plains Highway
connecting the state's heartland to coastal ports. Surely Houston is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the
entire United States and arguably can boast of an admirably skyline
