Overview
Hawaii is an isolated archipelago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, approximately 2,550 miles southwest of Los Angeles and about 3,900 miles southeast of Tokyo. Politically Hawaii is part of North America as a U.S. State It's comprised of 8 major islands (Oahu, Hawaii Maui, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, and Niihau) and a series of smaller ones. Hawaii is the world's longest island chain.

Hawai'i, the Big Island, is a land with two faces, watched over by snow-capped Mauna Kea and steaming Mauna Loa. It also offers advanced skiing in winter and clear blue sea's and lovely beaches year round. On the west, the sunny Kona side of the island has parched, lava-strewn lowlands and uplands blessed with misty mornings and sunny afternoons.

Hawaii - the Aloha State - welcomes and seduces visitors with its frangipani-scented sea breezes and tropical warmth. This is where East merges with West in a blur of hula and disco, soap operas and creation myths, Japanese tea ceremonies, Shinto shrines and surf clubs. Mark Twain declared Hawaii to be 'the loveliest fleet of islands that lies anchored in any ocean', and not even thirty years of mass tourism have managed to prove him wrong. Whether your thing is volcano spotting, surfing or just lying back and smelling the orchids, this is the place to indulge yourself.

This beautiful set of islands makes for a great place to visit in both winter and summer. Today the islands are one of the premier travel destinations in the world.
