Guam was ceded to the United states after the
Spanish-American War in 1898. The Japanese
captured Guam in Decemer 1941, and the Americans
didn't retake it completely until the summer of 1944.
Guam has something for everyone. An ancient and rich culrutal heritage, great beaches, warm, crystal clear waters, some of the best scuba diving and golf in the world, many other leisure activities, for other travellers Guam - really - is all about the duty free shopping, wide range of dining and nightlife and warm, friendly people Guam is the largest and most southerly island of the Marianas archipelago. It is a predominantly hilly island and at its northern end is a plateau of rolling hills and cliffs rising 152m (500ft) above sea level. The cliffs are tunnelled with caves. The island narrows in the middle, with the southern half widening into a land of mountains and valleys cut by streams and waterfalls. Although this may seem bizarre to Americans, gun ranges is one of the most popular tourist activities for the many Korean, Japanese, and Taiwanese tourist that visit Guam. And so, young men and women from these places line up at one of the many gun ranges in Guam and blasting away.
