Tiny
Charlottetown, the
administrative and business centre of PEI, is the most urbane spot on the island, its comfortable main streets -
Grafton and Kent - hemmed in by leafy
avenues of clapboard villas, the most opulent of which spread west of the centre towards
Victoria Park.
Charlottetown is nestled at the middle of the island province of
Prince Edward Island which is 224 kilometres long and has a width
varying from 6 to 64 kilometres, and lies just above sea level. There's lots to see and do around Charlottetown,
There are a dozen museums and historical sites, lots of parks and river-side greenspace, and activities and sports to
keep anybody busy and happy.
Charlottetown is an exceptionally pleasant place to spend a couple of days and it also has, in small-island terms,
a reasonable nightlife, with a handful of excellent restaurants and a clutch of good bars.
